Dupre Minerals

A KEY DEFENCE AGAINST STRUCTURAL FIRES

A range of high performance flame retardant additives that can be mixed with established water based emulsion paint systems to upgrade fire retardant properties. Suitable for flammable and non flammable substrates.

For Non-Flammable substrates, such as virgin plaster board or plaster board previously coated with multiple coats of water based paint, Dupre Minerals has developed a fully formulated paint system and an additive system that can be typically added to manufacturers own water based decorative paints.

Dupre FR-DB4 additive has been tested to BS467 parts 6-7 and EN13501-1 on virgin plaster board and as an upgrade paint on plaster board that has been pre-coated with 10 coats of water based emulsion prior to coating with DM880.

In the tests the two coats FR-DB4 additive were applied at 12 m2 litre on to the substrate and it achieved the following test results:

FR-DB4 BS476 part 6-7 Classification EN 13501 Classification
Virgin Plasterboard (9mm & 12mm) Class 0 B-s1,d0
Plaster Board previously coated with multiple coats of water based paint (10 coats) Class 0 B-s1,d0

BS 476 Part 7: Spread of flame test

Test results

Bottom board covered with FR-DB4 , middle and top board covered with high street brand fire protective paint.

The same tests were carried out by adding 20% by weight of Dupre Minerals Additive FR-DB4 to a household name off the shelf water based emulsion paint and the following test results were achieved.

20% FR-DB4 Additive in “off the shelf” emulsion BS476 part 6-7 Classification EN 13501 Classification
Virgin Plasterboard (9mm & 12mm) Class 0 B-s1,d0
Plaster Board previously coated with multiple coats of water based paint (10 coats) Class 0 B-s1,d0
